Understanding how the entire bail process works from start to finish is essential in ensuring our clients are able to fully utilize our services. Our licensed agents are here to answer your questions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Typically a defendant or a family member or friend of the defendant will contact the bail bondsman after being arrested and charged with a crime. During this initial call our agent will take down information about the defendant and the details surrounding the arrest. The purpose of this call is for us to assess the risk involved in providing our services to the defendant.
After we determine the defendant is someone we can grant a bail bond, there will be a bail premium of 10% of the total bail amount. For example, if the bail is set at $10,000, the premium will be $1,000. This fee is non-refundable, and it is the cost associated with using our service. The benefit to using our service is that you are able to be released without having to pay the $10,000 bail, and you are able to go back to your normal life.
After we finalize the paperwork, our certified agent will deposit the bond with the appropriate jail, which will result in the release of the defendant once the booking procedures have been completed by the detention facility. This process typically takes 1 to 2 hours to complete.
After the defendant has been released, it is their responsibility to appear in court. If the defendant does not appear at the scheduled court date, we can hire an enforcement agent to bring the defendant into custody and force them to appear in court.
